I have been unfortunate to get a boil in my groin that hasnt healed for 4 months..I was put on flucloxacillin and then augmentin...both dried the boil up but didnt heal it.the boil was then lanced....too much blood but no pus....I then went to a homeopathy doctor who thought it had mended itself...but it started oozing again and I am on silicea this MRSA?? My GP has tested the oozy stuff before but should I insist on testing it for MRSA??? I want to get rid of it..I have suffered too long..please help me..I also had chest and back pains which have now disappeared...

If the oozy stuff has been tested what was the result of that? I would imagine if by testing you mean they did a culture on it (tried to grow bacteria on agar plates) - if anything grew they wouldhave done sensitivities on it to find out which antibiotics would be effective. This culturing should have shown if there was MRSA was present, it doesnt need a special test.

Thank you so much Callie...My GP did take a swab and sent it for testing. Would they test for MRSA automatically in the UK?? She said that it didnt show anything for MRSA.but some other microbes were there...but all the associated symptoms make me think that I have it. How can you force them to test for it?? Please advise. I felt so relieved that someone replied. Thank you so much Callie.

Hi i have had these boils that u have been having for the past 10 years, ive been seeing a special doctor since then who tells me its a condition called Hidradentits Superativa.....yes i know what the hell!!! I have operations every 4-8 months to remove these boils which is very distressing. After my op in january this year i was told i had contracted mrsa and i have still got it, although i have not had any swabs taken untill now i am wondering wether i have had mrsa all this time and this is what these boils are. I know this may sound a bit drastic but i need answers an so i sympathsis with anyone else going through this.

SB MRSA can be found through the normal testing procedure used to identify other microbes, you do not have to specifically ask for an MRSA test, although you can ask for it if you are concerned - however it would be up tyour GP to decde if it was necessary.
