heart failure and mrsa

my father in law of (80) had an over kneamputation 9 days ago. He had mrsa in a ulcer which didnt heal.(he is diabetic) He was admitted to Hosp before surgery as he wasboing sick and his heart rate was just over 30.GP suggested he had toxins from his meds so took him off one drug which appeared to settle him for a while.
He was then transfered to another hospital for his amputation which went well.
24hrs after, he had a stomach bug and was tested positive for C-Diff. 2 days later he suffered a stroke. 4days after his heart started to fail and was fitted with a temporary pacemaker. His heart is now at the correct pace but only with the pace maker. They have now found a clot in his right arm!! He is still MRSA positive. The consultant can find no reason why his heart is so slow.
Can MRSA cause organsto fail? This is the 2nd amputation since November forthe same reason. If you do a search on amputation you will find the previous story.
As a note on dirty hospitals....when visiting one day, a soiled pad covered in faeces was left on the floor next to my in-laws bed.
Hygiene and cross infection issue aside, the indignity of the poor man having that to be found by his relatves.
I would appreciate coments please.

Dear jackie ,im so sorry to hear this about your father in law , as for your question "can mrsa cause organs to fail "i could not comment on that as i am not in the medical profession i can only tell you my feelings my mother died in jan 06 her death was contabuted by being infected with mrsa she suffered sepsis leading up to her death , on her D.C its bronco- pneumonia ,but the phone call i got from the staff nurse that night was your mother has been sick and has inhaled the vomit i think the family should come up , so take your pick on what one killed my mother . they can say anything and get away with it . my feelings to you is.......... start asking questions and get them answered , dont be fobbed off be very persistent. nearly all of us on this site have had untruths told to them or have been fobbed off , dont let them treat you's like this . my mother was dx when she had sepsis with diabetes, and also she had clots in her leg . please keep us updated on your father in law i would like to hear how you's get on , and also how this poor man is too .

Dear Jackie
I am so very sorry to hear about your father-in-law, please accept my condolences. The indignity he had to suffer is not that unusual, many of us have had to see our loved ones endure the conditions you have spoken of, he was owed better care than that Jackie.

The organ failure does happen when the infection has taken hold and sepsis sets in. I'm not medically qualified but my partner's stepfather had organ failure following profuse infection with MRSA.

You need to talk to the hospital about what happened and get them to tell you exactly why it was he deteriorated so badly and was so profusely infected.

I am sorry for your loss, if there is anything we can do to help, post here and we will do what we can.

MSRA is a death sentence. My husband broke his right ankle and
had surgery all went well and with proper therapy he would have
been back to work in 3 to 4 months. The Texas Workmans comp
insurance company said he needed a home care nurse to take care of
his wound but the wound was healed. The nurse put wet compresses
on his leg and ankle and wrapped the leg and ankle tight and
eroded the skin off the leg and ankle and exposed all of the metal
and screws in his leg and ankle. The surgeon put him back in the
hospital and called in a plastic surgeon to cover the metal with
his skin and at this time is when my husband contacted the MSRA.

The state of Texas and the insurance company have refused to give
my husband any benefits for the hell he has been through over 20
operations and the MSRA burst a hole in his groin and he almost
bled to death. The insurance company and I have been to several
meetings and they say nothing is wrong with him and that he should
contact the VA as he is a vet but the VA only pays for war related
problems. My husbands private insurance company has paid for
everything but the initial surgery to set the ankle back on his
leg. They have agreed that the MSRA was on their watch but do not
want to pay his bills or as I said before give him any benefits
and this was a work related injury.

In Texas you have no rights to sue and attorneys will not take his
case they say you cannot win because it is a money racket for the
state and the employee gets hung out to dry. My husband has been
fighting this for 4 years and the insurance company will not pay
for anything. I have written to my state rep, congressman and
they do not acknowledge anything I'm sick and my husband is in the
hospital right now with MSRA related medical problems.

The insurance company is a WC entity, their attorneys are, they
even have their own doctors and judges who determine your problem
This is called the good old boy state and all I can say you take
the screwing of your life in Texas.

My husband was born in Texas, is a Veteran, and this is what he
gets when he gets injured.

All I can say is everyone lies it is all about money, and your
state leaders are just as bad, worthless.

My husbands mess is ongoing but this is a warning to all, DO NOT

My husband has huge blisters on both legs most larger then baseballs from
heart failure . They popped and became infected and he spent a week in hospital
tested for sepsis and mrsa . They transferred him to a rest home rehab center . I
assumed tests were negative. Wounds would not heal so wound clinic did mrsa
test and a week later it is positive for mrsa. This has been three weeks and he
had low grade fever . This is second round of antibiotics. With heart failure and
reinal failure and copd will this be hard to beat and should I be tested cuz I was
wrapping legs many times with no gloves ?
